Visa Requirements to Enter Costa Rica

American, Canadian and most European citizens do not need any pre-entry permission (visa) to enter Costa Rica as long as they have a current valid passport. With a passport visitors can stay up to three months, and during the three months your driver's license from your home country allows you to legally drive in Costa Rica (and rent a car). Even if you are planning only a short trip YOUR PASSPORT MUST BE VALID AT LEAST 3 MONTHS BEYOND THE DATE THAT YOU ENTER COSTA RICA or you will be refused entry into Costa Rica by Immigration.

For all other countries check the Costa Rica Embassy in the USA to determine your entry visa requirements and length of stay restrictions.

Because of the COVID emergency Costa Rica has closed its borders. Beginning August 1, 2020 some nationalities will be allowed to enter. The list of countries permitted to enter will be published by the Costa Rica government and we will update this link as more information is published by Costa Rica.

It's time to call us.
