White Water: Private and Customized to your Experience and Priorities

The river, the choice of boats, the quality of guides. These make the Serendipity Difference

The Pacuare-- almost endless rapids,
and Serendipity's great team

White water as you want it. First time? Kids along? Expert in White Water? Serendipity runs the river for only you and your companions.

Serendipity Mini-Me raft flies down the Pacuare River in Costa Rica

Hi in Front! The Mini-Me practically flies in whitewater.

It's Your White Water Adventure...

You are not part of some grand flotilla. You are not pushed to the easy path, unless you are a kid or timid. You can stop and play in side streams. You can jump from the high rocks. You can swim in simple currents. You'll eat well. It's all up to you and your priorities.

Lunch on the river is fresh and sweet and salty and sometimes hot and always filling. The paddle jackets are so comfortably warm when you are not using adrenaline... the yellow ones for little kids.

Private, Adrenaline, Customized to You, and also Enlightening

Try your hand guiding your raft. Or get really wet! in a white water Duckie -- two man kayak, only you and an expert Serendipity guide, or in some sections go it alone. Rescue yourself from the water -- and then rescue someone else. Get a real feel for the power and beauty of white water.

Our river water is warm by traditional white water standards -- only fresh from the sky, not flowing from snow melt. But Serendipity makes it even better with paddle jackets (for warmth) and a hot lunch (for pleasure). And dry towels wait for you at the end. These small details separate Serendipity from the rest... attention to your comfort.

The Pejebeye is tame enough for even young -- yet fearless -- kids with parents and Serendipity guides and kayakers right there (with a camera, sometimes)

How to Make Everyone Happy at the Same Time?

Different People, Different Boats. When grandparents want to be part of the fun but not part of the work crew, there's the Oar Boat. Like riding the Queen Mary. Kids, too, are more secure in this heavier boat. Adrenaline junkies have one or two person Duckies or a Mini-me -- a four person sports boat. Basically you decide what you want and your head river guide will decide if it makes sense for security. We can run the Pacuare in one day, or camp and make it two grand days of adventure, adding fun side hikes and camping food.

And Different Rivers. We can run the Pejebeye in Duckies, and run it twice -- the second time, you are the guide, and Serendipity's guide is only along to laugh at you when you mess up. And kids really love this river.

Serendipity guide with young child on whitewater trip

Kids with concerns for white water, and seniors who want a less bouncy style of rafting, ride in the oar boat. The heavy boat, loaded with lunch and equipment, is under strict control of one experienced guide. The oar boat is unperturbed by big rapids.

It's the Guides. It's the Equipment.

Serendipity selects and trains our guides based on high standards for experience, attitude, and training. Then we train them more -- swift water rescue, advanced first aid, vertical rescue.

We buy equipment like life jackets with certification by the US Coast Guard. Equipment from reputable retailers like Hyside, NRS, and Cascade Outfitters. Our first aid equipment is the Gold Standard for Costa Rica - kits complete and inspected regularly. We have communication equipment in case of emergencies.

Playing with the river. That's why Serendipity has its own rafting equipment, guides, and planning. The river is huge fun, but it is also a rare true wilderness we of Serendipity strive to preserve.

It's the Planning

Planning is the most important part. We evaluate your needs for kind of boats, which river, what guides are most suitable. We add a safety kayaker when we have anyone under 16. We always have the most extreme guide to guest ratio in Costa Rica -- sometimes the guides outnumber guests two to one.

It's the "Little Extras".

And comfort. Did you notice the paddle jackets, the visors on the rafting helmets, the quality of food -- fresh and plenty of it? Serendipity includes these "little" extras that make a big difference.

It's time to call us.
